"Jean"の発音について、何度もダメだしされた。

今日も、単数・複数の間違いで大分注意されました。
ダメだなぁ。
application softwares とか、ツルっと言ってしまうのだよ。

goods/productsは堅いので、普段はthingsと言え、と
前回と同じようなアドバイスをいただいた。

あと、interior の発音が悪かったらしく、Italian? と聞かれたよ。

まぁ普通、かな。

オンデマンドのシステムがどうも使いづらく、
結局映画を見るより、本を読んでいた時間の方が長かった。

あんまり寝なかったな。

I didn't know the reason but some subway stations were closed. Trains just skipped the closed stations. It seemed weird. When I visited London last time, it was just two days after the London bombings and I could understand there were some stations out of service then. But this time, what is the reason? Londoners looked very patient. I would get mad if the train passes the station near my office without any excuses.



I found that Bonnington Hotel had turned into "Park Inn".
The sign was "Park Inn", but the name engraved on the wall was still Bonnington.



I tried self-checkout at TESCO. It was very hard for me to use. I asked an assistant for help two times! But I think it's very interesting and convenient. I wonder how high (or low) the rate of dishonesty is. It seemed so easy to get things without paying.

Watching movies is one of the entertainments on plane.
Movies on demand were good but I had a difficulty to decide what to watch because there were wide range of selection. When I flew with BA last year, the movie system wasn't on demand. So I guess this is a new for BA. And the system wasn't good. I suspected that the number of passengers who could watch the same movie at a time was limited, and I got a lot of messages saying "Sorry, unavailable". It was very frustrating. There was another problem. They offer only one movie with Japanese subtitle! People who aren't good at English have no choice.





On the first day in London, I took a shower at my hotel room and found that the shower-head was almost broken. Water splashed horizontally. I got a little upset but that was all. There was nothing I could do.

The next day, we placed one pound as a tip and went out.

At night, we came back and realized that the shower-head had been replaced. The number of towels was doubled. What a difference one pound made!

ドラマは見たことないのだけれど、いきなり見てみた。
まぁ字幕がなく英語音声のみで勝負する場合、
わかりやすいのがいいもんね。

Sarah Jessica Parker って、どうも好きじゃないのよね。

今日の講師はメキシコ人のLevin。

いい人でした。まぁテキストから話題が外れるのを嫌う傾向はあったけど。

一番驚いたのは、フランス語の"R&J"が好きだと言いだしたこと。
うっそー私仏語も独語も持ってて、ウィーンで見たよ！ってな感じで。

残念なことにこの話題が出たのが終了のチャイムが鳴ったと同時くらいだったので、
詳しく話すことはできなかったのだけれど。




最初に、頼んで発音をチェックしてもらった。
vanish-banish, low-law, light-right　など。

banishについては、「こんな単語あるの？知らない」と言ってた。
英辞郎によると、レベル６なんですが。

rの発音にwが入ってると言われた。口でではなく、口の中（舌）で音を作るように言われた。
気をつけながらなら、口をあひるのようにしなくてもちゃんとrの音が出せると気づいた。

一応、発音は合格点（perfect!）をもらったけど、
じゃあ聞き分けられるかは別問題なんだよな。




今日のテーマはオンラインショッピング。
って、3回に1回はこれ系のネタになる。テキストひどすぎ。




メモ。語彙編。

ネットでモノを買う、のモノを goods と言ったらあまりそうは言わないとのこと。
会社が商品を出荷する場合とかそういうイメージだそうな。

じゃぁ stuff? と聞いたらそれでもいいけど、単に things でいいんだそうな。
ちなみに stuff は uncountable。
