ふうこの英国留学日記-その後

2002年09月24日(火) Clumsy Girl -不器用な女

Today, I did nothing important....only enjoy reading web site and write some Japanese documents.

In night, I enjoyed cooking chinese dishes...
I suggested my Japanese friends to make a Mailing List in our University by Japanese students.

After I finished my dinner, my neighbor Daniel visited me and we drunk his red wine together. We talked some personal things each other, for example, he is 35 years old and divorced his wife 1 year ago.
He said the divorce tired him out, and now he want to make new
friends and think about his life in this time.

At a glance, he thought I am a very sporty girl, but I know actually I am not. I told him I am not good at sports and often tumble down.
He said "you are clumsy girl. My ex-wife was also clumsy. I always
worried about her."

I could not understand what the word of clumsy mean.
After I checked my dictionary. It said
"1.moving in an awkward way and tending to break things 2.said or done carelessly in a way."

I think it is very suitable word for me...
I am clumsy in both my body and mind.

After we cheered our friendship and talking about friendship.
I learned from him a word of "kindred spirit".
It means nice friends who thinks and feels the way you do, who can share your feeling together, or who belong to same kind of group of you.

I think it means very similar idea of 「類は友を呼ぶ」in Japanese.
