2004年08月29日(日) やっと休日

いや〜、１週間が長かった！
月曜日から土曜日まで授業があるんだもん。
こんな調子で今セメスター、ひとつもドロップしないでやっていけるんかいな。

貴重な休日。
朝はゆっくり寝て、昼間は食材の買い出し。
夕方から食材の下ごしらえ（茹でてたり小分けしたりして冷凍保存）。
その合間に大量の洗濯物をやっつけて、ケーキとクッキーを焼いて、夜やっとライティングの宿題をやりました（水曜日に出ていたんですけどね）。

今回はクラス初のアサイメントということで、５〜１０行のパラグラフ（エッセイのフォーマットにのっとらなくてよい）、しかも内容軽めの５つのトピックから、自分の書きやすいものを選べるというものでした。

今週後半、「ああ、書かなくちゃなぁ」と思いつつ、なかなか腰が上がらなかったのは、英文書くのにさぞ難儀するだろうなぁと思っていたからです。
なんせライティングは、去年の秋セメ以来ですからね。

しかし、書きやすいトピックのせいか、書き始めたらあっという間で、１時間もかかりませんでした。
しかも、下書きのつもりでメモ的に書いたものをタイプして終了。
１年前に勉強したことが、結構残っているもんなんだなぁと、自分でもちょっと驚きでした（クオリティは別として）。




夫は「濃い紺とかで大丈夫なんじゃん？」と言っていましたが、

結局しかたなく水色です(笑)
明日謝って、受け付けてもらえるように教授にお願いしてみます。

[ESL81 Academic Writing 2] Paragraph

My Favorite Musician

　My favorite musician is a jazz tenor and soprano saxophone player John Coltrane (1926-1967) who is called "The Giant", because of his original performance style and changing the tide of jazz music.
　The beginning time I listened to his performance was when I was sixteen years old, about twenty years ago from now. Its sound played by Coltrane, that had come from a coffee shop I had just passed by made me be shocked. The sound was powerful and mysterious, so I could not stop my desire to listen to his performance more and more.
　Since then, I have listened to a number of albums Coltrane performed. Marvelously, even though those albums had been recorded over forty years ago, they have still existed as an important monument in history of music, besides they give me fresh impression whenever I listen to the performance by John Coltrane.
